Issue a Scrip

Name, ticker, logo and route, then one signature.

Issuing takes a name, a ticker, a logo and a route, then one signature from the wallet that will hold the issuer's authority.

Before you start

  • A wallet with a little SOL for the network fee and the new accounts' rent.
  • Your logo, hosted at an HTTPS or IPFS address.
  • If you'll route yield to buybacks: your community token's mint address and its price feed.

Prepare the metadata file

Wallets and explorers read a Scrip's name, symbol and logo from a small JSON file you host. Put a file like this at an HTTPS or IPFS address:

{
  "name": "Your community",
  "symbol": "YOURUSD",
  "image": "https://example.com/your-logo.png"
}

The app shows this template filled in with your name and ticker, ready to copy.

Issue

  1. Name and ticker. Open Issue a Scrip. The name can be up to 32 characters. The ticker is 2 to 10 capital letters or digits starting with a letter; the app suggests one from the name, ending in USD, and you can change it.

  2. Metadata address. Paste the address of your metadata file.

  3. Route. Choose Buyback, Holders, Treasury or Split. Treasury needs a wallet to pay; it starts as the wallet you signed in with. Buyback needs the community token's mint, its price feed, a maximum slippage up to 10%, and whether bought tokens are burned or sent.

  4. Sign. Choose Issue and approve in your wallet. The app shows the transaction until Solana finalizes it.

What one signature creates

CreatedWhat it holds
Scrip accountThe name, ticker, route and your issuer authority
Token-2022 mintYour metadata, the Scaled UI Amount extension, and the program as mint authority
RouteWhere the yield goes from the first harvest
Public pageSupply, route, yield routed, buybacks, and a mint button

The transaction also creates the mint's account itself. The app generates that account's key and signs for it before your wallet sees the transaction, so you still approve once.

After issuing

Mint the first dollars from your Scrip's page, or share the page with your community. You can change the route later; see Change a route.
